Most people think of green tea as a drink that the Japanese enjoy in all their formal ceremonies, but the truth of the matter is that green tea is a versatile drink that you can use to make all kinds of delicious beverages. Sure, it has to be brewed like an herb tea, but once it is brewed you can use it to make pretty much anything you want. Don’t know what you can do with your green tea? Here are a few creative ideas that you can use to make some delicious drinks using green tea:
Mango Green Tea Smoothie
This is a delicious and refreshing drink that you can make with a bit of iced green tea and some pieces of fresh fruit. Simply brew up a pot of green tea and let it sit in the fridge for 24 hours to chill (the freezer kills some of the taste and nutrients of the green tea). Once the tea has chilled, place it in the blender with some fresh mango, a couple of slices of fresh pineapple, and plenty of ice. You can even add a scoop of fresh lemon sherbet if you want, and blend well before drinking your tropical smoothie.
Green Lemon Tea
Lemon tea is usually recommended by mothers for their sick children, and its acidic taste blends nicely with the fresh green tea. Try brewing a pot of green tea and squeezing one lemon per two cups of tea into the pot. Let it brew and blend the flavors of the tea together, and serve it hot or cold.
Iced Green Tea with Mint
This is a unique twist on the iced green tea recipes, as you will be making a pot of green tea for iced tea but adding some unique ingredients. Brew up your pot of iced green tea, and let it chill in the fridge overnight. Once the tea has chilled, remove it from the fridge. In separate cups, use an ice pick to crush some ice into chips, and crush some mint leaves and sugar into it (like a Brazilian caipirinha). Pour in the chilled green tea for a delicious minty fresh beverage.
Japanese Paradise
Who knew that you could mix a bit of fruit juice with your green tea? Brew a pot of green tea and let it chill in the fridge. Pour a bit of orange juice a cup, along with a splash of mango juice. Add a splash of cranberry juice, and top off the mix with some green tea to complete your sweetly fresh mixed drink.
Wow, all these amazing recipes for green tea give you so many options of beverages you can make with the simple Japanese tea. In reality, there are literally hundreds of recipes that you can come up with on your own, and you can actually have a lot of fun looking for creative ways to make delicious iced green tea drinks. The sky is the limit, and your taste buds are sure to thank you for your creativity.
